function”
The ergonomics of the
handle
Designed
by Joseph Opinel, the handle of an Opinel fits perfectly in the palm of the
hand. Available in several sizes, there is a model for everyone, guaranteeing a
good grip of the knife, and hence comfort and safety.
The shape of the blade
known
as the Yatagan blade, and already used several centuries ago, is effective,
precise, elegant.
“A perfect cut”
To
achieve a perfect cutting quality, three parameters need to be considered:
-
the quality of the steel
- absolute compliance with heat treatment
cycles
- sharpening of the blade. The latter operation must give a perfect
cut, edging only serves to remove any "burrs".
“The exclusivity of
Virobloc”
Invented
by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring was improved in 2000 on all
the Opinel ranges. In addition to locking of the blade in the open position
(safety of use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position
(safety during carrying).
