If you return products to us as part of the after-sales service, the shipping costs are covered and we will send you a prepaid returns label. If the return is a withdrawal, shipping costs are at your expense.

Residents outside of the European Union who provide a delivery address outside of the European Union are eligible for a tax refund. In this case, French VAT does not apply and your order will automatically be invoiced excluding tax but you will need to pay local taxes and customs duty when the package is delivered.

Unfortunately, you cannot change your address once the package has been shipped.

Opinel folding knives are made of carbon steel and stainless steel. The carbon steel blades are susceptible to corrosion so you should dry them properly and apply a little cooking oil to protect them. For more maintenance tips, visit our blog.

You can contact our after-sales service if you ordered online, or if it was purchased from a retailer. Engraving on the blade can fade due to the acidity of washing-up liquid. To clean your engraved blades, you can use washing-up liquid as long as you rince and dry the blades well after washing. We do not recommend leaving washing-up liquid to soak on your engraved blade.

Customising products

You can customise an individual knife by ordering on our website. You will find the list of all our customisable products here. For orders of a large quantity of 100 items or more, please contact our customisation service.

Customisation is not available for all of our knives due to the characteristics of the blades, the wood or the handle material.

The individually branded knives are engraved using laser, on the blade and the handle. For knives ordered in large quantities, we offer different branding solutions, such as tampography or sublimation. If you are interested, please request a quote from the customisation service.

The knives are engraved using laser, on the blade and the handle but the reaction is different depending on the material. For the handles, the engraving is deep in the wood whereas on the blade, the engraving is only on the surface and may slightly fade through use (for example, when sharpening). The blade engraving may fade due to the acidity of washing-up liquid. For cleaning your engraved blades, you can use washing-up liquid as long as you wash and dry the blades properly after washing. We do not recommend leaving washing-up products to soak on your engraved blades.

Where can I find Opinel products ?

There are three points of sale which can be considered as Opinel stores: The Opinel store in Annecy, the Musée Opinel in Saint Jean de Maurienne and La Piste Verte in Chambery. You can also find all of our collection in our retailer network Relais Opinel, available [here].

Opinel knives are sold in many shops. You can find our products in cutlery stores, all sports retailers, garden centres or even DIY stores. To access the list of our points of sale, visit the "Find a store" page.

We do not have a factory shop, however, if you would like to learn more about the brand and find all of the products in the collection, head to the Musée Opinel store in Saint Jean de Maurienne or the official store in Annecy!

Opinel products

Our knives and tools are manufactured in France in our factory in Chambery (Savoie) which employs 120 people, of which 75 deal with the manufacturing. A small part of our range is manufactured by our partner in Portugal after having been developed in Chambery: pruners, Parallèle and Intempora kitchen knives, peelers, spreading knives, vegetable knives and Le Petit Chef knives. Garden saw blades and cases are manufactured in Asia. Tableware and kitchenware is manufactured in France by the company Tissage Moutet.
