Can you briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Charlène, I'm 26 years old, I joined this company in 2015 and have been working in the laser workshop since 2017.
Can you tell us a bit more about your work?
I do the engravings on the knives. I work frequently with the BtoB service which sends me customers' logos, then I make them a sample, and once approved, I place the order for the requested quantity. There are two different lasers, one for engraving the blades, and one for the handles. I also do stamping, meaning logos or drawings created from ink.
How many knife engravings do you complete per year?
I do about 150 handles or 40 blades per hour, so I complete many over the year. It all depends on the size of the components we are working on, as well as the number of orders.
If you had to keep one of the engravings you've done, which would you choose?
We regularly create engravings for high-end restaurants such as the Auberge du Père Bise, René et Maxime Meilleur, Marc Veyrat, Arpège, and even the Institut Paul Baucuse.It's always a pleasure to work on these engravings.
What do you like about this job?
I love working on logos. Sometimes I need to adjust the logos that are sent to me so so they come out better in the engraving. I do this first on my computer.
Can you describe your job using only one word?
I would say novelty! We received the first laser in 2017, the second in 2018, it's the little added touch.
Do you work as a team, or independently?
We work as a team of 3 on the laser, and we split up the tasks.
What are the values you have found at Opinel?
It's pleasant to work at this company, there's a good atmosphere and good working conditions. Everyone knows each other and it's like a family.
