An activity which will allow your children to make their own musical instruments

Material

- A dry piece of bamboo cane or giant cane (Aurundo donax) with a diameter of 1.5 or 2 cm
- A hardwood stick

Tool

My First Opinel

Instructions

Cut a 20cm piece of bamboo cane, with an opening at one of the ends.
Cut deep notches every centimetre in the bamboo without cutting through the tube.
For a better sounding instrument, make two longitudinal slots.
Simply cut a notch into each side and make a longitudinal slot from one of these two notches.
Split outwards, then widen the slots.

Use

Scrape the tube with the stick while following the rhythm of the music or the song.
